How to Brine a Turkey

What you will need For this Turkey Brine Recipe is:

Large Stock Pot – USA – CDN


One Thawed Turkey – See how to do it fast here

1QT Boiling water
5-6 QT Cold Water
5-7 cups of ice
1 Cup Kosher Salt
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 lemon and it’s zest
1 orange and it’s zest
1 apple sliced
8 cloves of garlic


Step #1
First you need to mix up your Brine by taking all your ingredients including the zest from the lemon and orange and place them in a QT of boiling water. This is going to dissolve the the salt and sugar as well as blend together all the flavours.

Step #2
Once your concentrated brine is mixed, pour it into a large stock pot with 5 qt cold water. Next you will place your ice into the mixture and let it chill down to a safe tempreture. Once the brine has been chilled to a safe tempreture you will then place your turkey into the brine so it is fully underwater.

Step #3
Lastly you will place a lid on the pot and place the turkey into the fridge for 12-24 hours.
